Managers in the Field and Home Office
Gene
Blount, former supervisor in the Tim Manners
Region in Texas, was promoted to manager of Asplundh
line clearance operations on the property of Detroit
Edison Co. in June. The Blount Region's sponsor is Matt
Asplundh.
Gene joined the company in October 1993 with 10 years
of prior line clearance experience with our Blume Tree
Service subsidiary. Starting out on a tree crew in 1983
in his home state of Texas, Gene advanced to general
foreman over line clearance and meter reading crews
three years later. In October 1998, he was promoted
to supervisor under Vice President Tim Manners. As a
new manager, Gene's responsibilities include overseeing
Asplundh vegetation management crews working on the
property of Detroit Edison in southeastern Michigan.
Gene attended the May 1995 Asplundh Supervisory Training
Program and is an ISA Certified Arborist. He is a member
of the ISA and UAA.
Lisa
Lamberton, former customer relations manager
in Corporate Administration, advanced
to manager of the Accounts Receivable Dept. in the Willow
Grove Home Office. She reports to Controller George
Licci.
After earning a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania
State University, Lisa joined Asplundh's Customer &
Field Liaison Dept. in 1980. In late 1983, she left
the company, but returned to the Input Operations Dept.
two years later to work as an assistant department head.
In 1989, Lisa transferred back to Customer & Field
Liaison as an operations supervisor and in 1998, was
promoted to manager of Electronic Billing Operations
(in the IT Dept.). Her background in invoicing, reporting
and customer service led to her appointment last year
to customer relations manager and will be invaluable
in her new responsibilities for the Accounts Receivable
Department. Lisa is responsible for cash collection
and application processes for all company operations.
Mike
Reilly, former Electric Dept. manager for
our subsidiary Asplundh Construction Corp. (ACC), has
been named manager of ACC operations in Pennsylvania
and upstate New York. The new Reilly Region of ACC reports
to Sponsor Keith Asplundh.
A native of Pennsylvania, Mike came to Asplundh in 1986
with 23 years of prior experience in all aspects of
the electric utility construction industry in the Northeast.
Starting out as a superintendent and quickly moving
up to supervisor, he oversaw some of the company's first
overhead electric construction crews in eastern Pennsylvania.
In 1999, he transferred into ACC to oversee and expand
electric construction operations. With the construction
sector's growth, Mike was given responsibility in May
for ACC operations on the properties of various utilities
in Pennsylvania and upstate New York. Prior to his construction
career, Mike served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
New
Supervisors for Tree Co., Safety and Construction
Rob
Earlywine, former
general foreman, was promoted in April to supervisor
under Manager Dave Ellifritz in Kentucky. Brent Asplundh
is the sponsor for the Ellifritz Region.
A 17-year Asplundh veteran, Rob has worked his entire
career in his home state of Kentucky. A member of a
large farming family, he was no stranger to outdoor,
physical labor when he joined an Asplundh tree crew
in 1984. Six years later, Rob became a foreman and in
1997, he was promoted to general foreman. As a new supervisor
in the Ellifritz Region, Rob is responsible for overseeing
Asplundh crews working on the property of Kentucky Utilities
and several rural electric cooperatives and municipal
accounts in eastern Kentucky. He attended the Asplundh
Supervisory Training Program in June 1999, is a CPR/First
Aid Instructor, holds a Kentucky herbicide license,
and recently took the test to become an ISA Certified
Arborist.
Bobby
King, former general foreman, advanced to
supervisor in April under Manager Dave Ellifritz in
Kentucky. The Ellifritz Region is sponsored by Brent
Asplundh.
A native of Kentucky, Bobby joined an Asplundh tree
crew in 1987. After working on a climbing crew, he advanced
to foreman in 1988. Bobby was promoted to general foreman
on the property of Bluegrass Energy in 1998, after working
as an assistant general foreman for a year. As a new
supervisor in the Ellifritz Region, he is responsible
for overseeing Asplundh crews working on the properties
of Kentucky Utilities and various municipal and cooperative
utilities in western Kentucky. Bobby attended the Asplundh
Supervisory Training Program in May 2000 and is preparing
to take the ISA Certified Arborist exam soon. He is
a licensed herbicide applicator in the state of Kentucky.
Carl
Marcum joined Asplundh in February as a
new supervisor in Indiana under Manager Mike Early.
The Early Region in Ohio and Indiana is sponsored by
Gregg Asplundh.
Born and raised in Oneida, Tennessee, Carl brings to
Asplundh more than 23 years of experience in line clearance
and private tree work in Indiana and Ohio. Most of his
career was spent working for Bartlett Tree Expert Co.,
whose line clearance operations were acquired by Asplundh
in February. Carl owned and operated his own tree service
from 1988 to 1992 when he returned to work for Bartlett.
Before joining Asplundh, Carl was a superintendent over
line clearance crews based in Fort Wayne, Indiana where
he still lives and works. Carl's supervisory responsibilities
include overseeing Asplundh crews working on the property
of American Electric Power (AEP) and various cooperative
and municipal accounts in Indiana and Ohio. He is a
certified pesticide applicator and attended the Asplundh
Supervisory Training Program in May.
Art
Price joined Asplundh in February as a safety
supervisor under Vice President and Corporate Safety
Director Jim Allard. The Safety Dept. is sponsored by
Steven Asplundh.
Art brings to the company more than seven years of experience
as a safety and training coordinator for Bartlett Tree
Expert Co., whose line clearance operations were acquired
by Asplundh in February. As an Asplundh safety supervisor,
he is responsible for monitoring safety compliance for
all the former Bartlett operations throughout several
management regions. Prior to this position, Art worked
for the U.S. Forest Service and earned a bachelor's
degree in environmental science from Ferrum College
in his home state of Virginia. A CPR/First Aid instructor,
Art is a member of the Safety Council of Southwest Virginia
as well as the ISA and UAA.
David
Ridenour, former general foreman in Geordia,
was promoted to supervisor in Louisiana under Manager
Eugene Wyatt in May. The Wyatt Region is sponsored by
Matt Asplundh.
David
came to work for Asplundh in 1987 as foreman in Georgia
with almost five years of prior line clearance and tree
service experience. In fact, he had operated his own
tree service in his home state of Louisiana for three
years. In 1991, David was promoted to general foreman,
overseeing tree and spray crews working in Georgia.
He transferred to the Wyatt Region in 1998. As a new
supervisor, he is responsible for overseeing Asplundh
crews working on the properties of Dixie Electric Membership
Corp., Central Louisiana Electric Co. and Entergy in
southeast Louisiana. David attended the Asplundh Supervisory
Training Program in 1992 and is a state certified arborist..
Rick
Sankolewicz, former
general foreman in Maine, was promoted in March to supervisor
under Manager Dave Sanders in Pennsylvania. The Sanders
Region is sponsored by Keith Asplundh.
A native of Massachusetts, Rick actually got his start
with an Asplundh tree crew in Louisiana in 1983. Two
years later, he transferred as a spray crew foreman
to Maine and was promoted to general foreman in 1989.
Rick's supervisory responsibilities in the Sanders Region
include overseeing Asplundh crews working in the Harrisburg,
Lancaster and Lehigh Divisions of Pennsylvania Power
& Light. Rick served four years in the U.S. Army
and earned an associate's degree in forestry from the
University of Massachusetts. He is a licensed herbicide
applicator and is a member of the ISA.
Christopher
Shane joined Utility Lines Construction
Services, Inc. (ULCS) in April as a construction supervisor
under Manager John Shane. The Shane Region of ULCS serves
New England and is sponsored by Scott Asplundh.
With over 11 years of experience in the electric utility
construction industry, Christopher has worked in a wide
range of positions from apprentice lineman, lead lineman,
supervisor, safety director and up to manager. Prior
to joining ULCS, he was an assistant chapter manager
for the National Electrical Contractors Association
in Pennsylvania. Having returned to his home state of
Connecticut, Chris is responsible for overseeing ULCS
operations in New England, which currently consist of
overhead and underground distribution construction for
Northeast Utilities. Chris earned a bachelor's degree
in safety engineering from Kennedy-Western University
in Washington and has taken business classes at Manchester
Community College in Connecticut.
John
"Jack" Zardecki, former construction
superintendent, was promoted to construction supervisor
in May for a newly-established region in Pennsylvania
under Sponsor Keith Asplundh.
A 22-year Asplundh veteran, Jack joined the company
as a foreman in 1979 in his home state of Pennsylvania.
He came to Asplundh with 18 years of prior line construction
experience, two of them with a former Asplundh-affiliated
company, Utilities Line Construction Co. He had worked
on a variety of electric transmission and distribution
projects in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and West
Virginia. In 1988, Jack advanced to general foreman,
supervising Asplundh construction crews working on all
phases of overhead electric and telephone line work,
as well as some underground distribution. His supervisory
responsibilities currently include overseeing Asplundh
construction crews working on the property of UGI in
eastern Pennsylvania. Jack attended the Asplundh Supervisory
Training Program in 1990.
CLS
Names Assistant Regional Directors
Ronnie
Cook, former operations field manager for
Central Locating Service, Ltd. (CLS), has been promoted
to assistant regional director in North Carolina under
Regional Director Tom Hadley. The Hadley Region reports
to Vice President of Operations Jim Gregory and President/COO
Dick Steeg.
Ronnie began his career in the locating industry in
1988 and was instrumental in the initiation of NOCUTS
operations in the Carolinas and Georgia. In 1990, he
took on management duties and then transferred to Sprint
in 1995 as a business office manager in New Bern, North
Carolina. In 1996, after attending Craven Community
College in New Bern, Ronnie advanced to operations field
manager for NOCUTS in Wilmington, North Carolina and
joined CLS through the NOCUTS acquisition in March 2000.
Ronnie is responsible for overseeing CLS operations
throughout the Carolinas and Tennessee.
Dave
Dorner,
former operations field manager for CLS based in Pennsylvania,
advanced to assistant regional director under Vice President
and Regional Director Wes Plummer. The Plummer Region
covers CLS operations in New York, Maryland, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
Starting out as a field locator for CLS in Florida in
1987, Dave returned to his home state of Pennsylvania
as he gained more supervisory responsibilities. In 1991,
he left CLS to work in operations management for another
utility locating company, eventually ending up with
Sprint/NOCUTS, which was acquired in March 2000. Dave
was instrumental in the successful start-up and management
of locating operations in New York, Massachusetts and
Pennsylvania and has served on state One-Call committees
and boards in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He attended
West Virginia University in Morgantown.
Colin McBride, former district
manager for CLS in Texas, was promoted in May to assistant
regional director under Regional Director David Blount.
The Blount Region reports to Vice President of Operations
Jim Gregory and President/COO Dick Steeg.
A native of Florida, Colin joined CLS in 1997 as a field
technician and was soon promoted to supervisor. In 1998,
he opened an office in West Palm Beach and a year later,
advanced to field manager of the South Florida area.
In April 2000, Colin transferred into CLS's Quality
Assurance Department before his promotion in July 2000
to district manager in the Houston, Texas area. As an
assistant regional director, Colin is responsible for
overseeing CLS operations in Texas, Missouri and Kansas.
A business management graduate of Brewton Parker College
in Georgia, Colin also served in the U.S. Army Honor
Guard during the Reagan administration.
Wiley
Rickerson, former operations field manager,
advanced to assistant regional director in Florida under
Regional Director Tom Hadley. The Hadley Region covers
CLS operations in Florida, North and South Carolina
and Tennessee.
With 29 years of telephone/utility company experience
in Florida,Wiley joined CLS in March 2000 as part of
the acquisition of Sprint/NOCUTS. Starting out as a
cable splicer for Sprint in 1971, he advanced through
the ranks to manager for residential service in 1986
and oversaw Sprint's fiber optic restoration programs
throughout the state. Eleven years later, Wiley transferred
into NOCUTS as an operations field manager for Florida's
West Coast. As an assistant regional director, Wiley
is responsible for overseeing CLS operations throughout
the state. He attended Lake-Sumter Community College
in Florida and has completed numerous professional management
and engineering courses.
