New
Managers in the Home Office, Field & CLS
Lisa
Belmont, former implementation manager in the Willow Grove
IT Department, advanced to a newly created position as our customer
relations manager in May. She reports to Corporate Administration
Manager Jim Hines.
Lisa first
started with Asplundh in the Customer & Field Liaison Dept.
in 1980. She left the company in late 1983 to start a family,
but returned to the Input Operations Dept. two years (and two
daughters) later to work as an assistant department head. In
1989, Lisa transferred back to Customer & Field Liaison
as an operations supervisor and was promoted to manager of Electronic
Billing Operations (in the IT Dept.) two years ago. In her new
role, Lisa serves in a project capacity, working with field
managers to identify customer requirements pertaining to invoicing
and reporting. Then she coordinates Home Office processes and
solutions to meet and exceed the customers expectations.
Lisa is graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.
Wayne
Hanley, former supervisor in the Infrared Services Division,
was promoted to manager of the division in May. In a move to
combine forces to serve customers more efficiently,Wayne reports
to Pat OConnor, Manager of Utility Pole Technologies,
Inc., our pole maintenance subsidiary. Vice President Brent
Asplundh sponsors this division.
A 30-year
Asplundh veteran, Wayne has worked his entire career in Infrared
Services, a predictive maintenance service which Asplundh has
offered since 1967. Wayne was promoted to supervisor of the
division in 1978 and has worked throughout the country, overseeing
and conducting infrared inspections for investor-owned utilities
and electric cooperatives. As the divisions new manager,
he is responsible for operational quality control and evaluation
of new technology and techniques. Wayne served four years in
the U.S. Marine Corps as a cryptographic technician and ground
radio operator in Vietnam and he attended Temple University
in Philadelphia.
Al Segal
joined Asplundh in April as manager of the Accounts Receivable
Dept. in the Willow Grove Home Office. He reports to Controller
George Licci.
Al brings
to Asplundh over 23 years of experience in the credit and collections
industry. Most recently, he was the credit manager for Automatic
Data Processing in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, a position he served
in for over 10 years. For Asplundh, Al is responsible for cash
collection and application processes. He manages a staff of
ten, several of whom have been working closely with the IT Dept.
to implement a new accounts receivable system. This new program
was designed to help improve cash flow and Days Sales Outstanding.
Originally from Philadelphia, Al graduated from Temple University
with a bachelors degree in business management.
Barry
Suddreth, former supervisor under Vice President Keith Fowler
in the western Carolinas, advanced to manager of the region
in April upon Keiths retirement. Vice President Gregg
Asplundh sponsors the new Suddreth Region.
Barry joined
the company in 1987 in his home state of North Carolina where
he worked on a variety of tree and street lighting crews. In
1991, he advanced to general foreman and two years later, he
was promoted to supervisor. Barry is responsible for managing
Asplundh operations on the property of Duke Energy and various
rural electric cooperatives, municipal electric utilities and
telecommunications companies throughout the western halves of
North and South Carolina. A 1992 graduate of ASTP, Barry also
studied electrical engineering at North Carolina State University.
A member of the UAA and the North Carolina Vegetation Management
Association, Barry is also an ISA Certified Arborist and licensed
pesticide applicator.
Joe
Tumpak, former assistant manager of the Equipment Dept.,
was promoted in March to a new position as asset control manager
for our underground utility locating subsidiaries, CLS, UUL
and ACLS. He reports to the subsidiarys Controller/Manager
of Financial Reporting Angelo Mattioli.
Joe started
out in the Equipment Dept. 33 years ago as a tool repairman
and truck driver in the former Philmont shop. From 1967 to 1983,
he advanced into equipment administration positions of greater
responsibility for two former construction-oriented subsidiaries,
Utilities Line Construction Co. and the Asplundh Service Company.
Joe was promoted to assistant equipment manager for the Tree
Co. in 1983. In his new position, he is responsible for tracking
inventory and maintenance of utility locating vehicles and tools.
Joe served from 1961 to 1963 in the U.S. Navy and has studied
business administration at Bucks County Community College.
New
Names and Promotions in Construction
Henry
Jinks, former superintendent in Georgia under Construction
Manager Preston Polk, was promoted in June to manager of the
utility line construction operation that had been part of the
Tom Leverentz Region in Texas. Henrys division is sponsored
by Vice President Steven Asplundh.
A 35-year
veteran of the utility line construction industry, Henry joined
Asplundh in January to help oversee the Polk Regions overhead
and underground line construction projects in the Southeast.
As a division manager in Texas, Henry is responsible for developing
new projects for Asplundh in the South and managing current
transmission, distribution and substation construction crews
working on the properties of various investor-owned utilities
in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. Henry holds numerous certifications
for specialized construction training and has worked in 45 states
during his career.
Bud
Branham joined Asplundh in March as a staff/operations manager
for Asplundh Construction Corp. (ACC) operations in Florida.
He reports to ACC-Florida Manager Harry Burchell and Vice President
Brent Asplundh sponsors the operation.
Bud brings
to the company 24 years of utility industry experience, from
power plant and distribution operations to human resources management.
Bud started out working in a power plant for Florida Power &
Light in 1973. Three years later, he transferred into labor
relations and human resources. In 1989, Bud moved into distribution
operations for FP&L and most recently, he was a partner
in an underground construction company. Operating out of ACCs
West Palm Beach office, Bud is responsible for overseeing staffing
and quality control for the subsidiarys construction projects
throughout the state. He holds a bachelors degree from
Stetson University and an M.B.A. from Florida International
University in Miami.
Roger
Dearmond, former construction general foreman in the Preston
Polk Construction Region in Georgia, advanced to superintendent
in May. Vice President Steven Asplundh sponsors the Polk Region.
With three
years of prior utility line construction experience, Roger joined
an Asplundh underground construction crew in Georgia in 1987
as a foreman. He was promoted to general foreman in 1996. As
a new superintendent, he is responsible for overseeing directional
boring and re-conductoring projects for underground distribution
and street lighting systems on the properties of Georgia Power
and Flint EMC. Roger served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967
to 1978 and graduated from the Asplundh Supervisory Training
Program in 1997.
Tommy
Murphy, former construction general foreman in the Preston
Polk Construction Region in Georgia, was promoted to superintendent
in May. The Polk Region is sponsored by Vice President Steven
Asplundh.
Tommy came
to Asplundh as a construction foreman in Georgia in early 1998
with 22 years of diverse experience in electrical utility construction
in the Southeast. Prior to joining Asplundh, he had worked on
construction projects for utility substations, transmission
lines, underground distribution lines, directional boring and
overhead distribution lines. In September 1999, Tommy became
a general foreman. His responsibilities as a new superintendent
are primarily focused on overhead distribution projects for
Georgia Power, Duke Energy in the Carolinas, and various electric
membership corporations in Georgia.
