Corporate Communications:
What Have We Done For You Lately?

Who do you call if you need an Asplundh display booth and brochures to hand out at a trade show or meeting? How do you get a photo or a story into The Asplundh TREE? Where can you find photos and digital images of equipment or operations for a presentation? The answers are all -- the Corporate Communications Department in Willow Grove!

Manager Patti Chipman and her staff of Dolores Dugan, Ronnie Gauker and Kristin Wild handle many of the behind-the-scenes activities that help Asplundh promote its services to customers and boost the morale of company employees.

The following are the primary duties and responsibilities of the department:

  • "The Asplundh TREE" magazine and "Branching Out" Home Office newsletter
  • www.asplundh.com website
  • Brochures and flyers, includes the editing/designing of the Annual Report, meeting programs, etc.
  • Corporate and subsidiary print advertising, as well as ads in regional directories or sponsorship ads
  • Press releases and fielding questions from radio, TV and newspaper reporters
  • Photos of company events and people, includes maintaining photo archives and biographical files
  • Display booths for trade shows/meetings
  • Coordinating Asplundh's Annual Managers' Meeting, Supervisors' Meeting, Construction meetings and industry conferences
  • Coordinating Asplundh participation in the EEI and ISA meetings

Working closely with sponsors and managers throughout the company and overseas, Corporate Communications is dedicated to getting the message out that Asplundh is a great company, made up of hard-working, skilled and service- oriented employees.
"We're always looking for new ideas to promote Asplundh," says Patti, "Especially since we have a major milestone to recognize next year-Asplundh's 75th anniversary!"

A Big Celebration is in the Works!
We Want Your Input!

Throughout 2003, Asplundh will be celebrating its 75th anniversary with special advertising, events and an expanded edition of The Asplundh TREE magazine.
"We know there's a lot of 'orange blood' out there and we're looking for all kinds of suggestions on how to show our pride," says Patti. "We also hope that Asplundh employees or customers will lend us old photos and anecdotes for possible use in The TREE and other publications. We want your involvement!"

Take Aim … It's Time for Shoot Out 2002

Clean up those camera lenses! Dust off your photo albums! Sharpen up your focus on all the work and nature around you! Then take aim on one of the cash prizes you could win in the Corporate Communications Department's annual photo contest, Shoot Out 2002.
The contest challenge extends to Asplundh employees, our customers and their
immediate family members. There are two "target" categories available to enter
once again this year:

Work Related-Show us interesting angles on the everyday work routine or
emergency situations. Work scenes from our specialty service divisions and
subsidiaries are also welcome.

Nature-Whether it's a landscape, seascape or a wildlife shot, we love to see
Mother Nature in all her glory.

First, second and third place winners in each category will receive a cash prize of $150, $100 or $75 and the winning shots will be published in the Autumn 2002 issue of The Asplundh TREE. Entries received by June 14 will be considered for possible use in the 2003 75th Anniversary Asplundh Wall Calendar.
You may submit color or black & white prints, or 35mm slides-no negatives, please. You may also enter more than one category with up to 10 photos total.
As before, pictures which show any sort of safety violation will be disqualified. Please package your photos carefully and be sure to enclose your name, address, phone number and the category you wish to enter on a separate piece of paper. A brief description of each picture would be helpful. Entries will not be returned unless you specifically request it. Fire off your entries to:
