Asplundh
Welcomes New Employees From Bartlett Acquisition

Hiring sessions were held during the last
weeks of February. Management
welcomed Bartlett applicants to the hiring session held in
Lima, Ohio and gave a
brief presentation on Asplundh's history, services and organization.
Hundreds
of new faces appeared on the Asplundh team on February 26.
The reason for this expansion was the result of an important
transaction, completed the day before, between two of the
world’s largest vegetation management companies.
On
February 25, the Asplundh Tree Expert Co. purchased the U.S.
line clearance operations of the F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert
Company. Bartlett, founded in 1907 and headquartered in Stamford,
Connecticut, has been in the line clearance business for 79
years. Family-owned and managed like Asplundh, Bartlett is
known as the world’s leading provider of landscape tree and
shrub care.

During
a hiring session in Ohio a former Bartlett employee
got some questions answered as he filled out an Asplundh
employment application. He's now working in the Mike
Early Region for AEP.

Robert
A. Bartlett, Jr., grandson of the firm’s founder, explained,
“The sale of this segment of our business is in keeping with
our original mission and focus on the scientific approach
to landscape tree and shrub care and will enable us to expand
our markets and range of services in that direction.” The
realignment of the company’s resources makes more productive
use of the R.A. Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories to benefit
its residential, commercial, institutional and municipal client
base.
For
Asplundh, the purchase of Bartlett’s line clearance operation
means a welcome addition of experienced personnel and equipment
for our core business. After getting to know most of the former
Bartlett employees through a hiring process in late February,
Asplundh has now gained over 700 new employees, working in
12 states under 11 regional managers.
Absorbing
that many new employees and their equipment did not happen
over
night, however. It required an all-out effort on the part
of Asplundh’s Corporate Administration, Field Personnel, Human
Resources, Equipment, Corporate Communications, Payroll, Legal,
Customer & Field Liaison and Accounting Departments in
Willow Grove—as well as the regional managers and their staffs
in the field.
Hiring
sessions were arranged in 16 different locations during the
last two weeks of February and within days, all our new employees
were ready to be paid, insured, equipped, etc. The Asplundh
Home Office/Field Team did a great job!
Let’s
give a warm welcome to our new employees and wish them many
great opportunities in their career with Asplundh!
