Executive-Level
Changes
Top-level
organizational changes have taken place at Asplundh Tree Expert
Co., effective January 1. Christopher B. Asplundh was elected
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. Scott M.
Asplundh now holds the position of President and George E. Graham,
Jr. has officially been named Executive Vice President.
These
changes were made due to the retirement of Chairman of the Board
Carl Hj. Asplundh, Jr., 65, whose Asplundh career spanned 47
years. He will continue to serve on the company's Board of Directors,
as well as numerous community organizations.
Chris
Asplundh, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive
Officer, now leads the Asplundh Tree Expert Co.’s Board of Directors,
as well as the sponsor team that oversees the company’s day-to-day
operations. He served as president of the company from 1992
through 2000 and has managed many aspects of the company as
it has grown and diversified over the years.
Chris
joined the company full-time in 1963 after serving in the U.S.
Marine Corps and graduating from the University of Pennsylvania
where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. Chris started
out overseeing crews in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, but soon
gained more experience with management assignments in Illinois
and New England. In 1967, he was elected vice president and
his sponsor responsibilities grew over time to
include 12 field regions and the Safety Department. During his
career with the company, Asplundh has established 15 subsidiaries
and special services divisions, as well as successful operations
in Canada and overseas.
Scott
Asplundh, President of the Asplundh Tree Expert Co.,
leads a team of nine sponsors and more than 80 field and subsidiary
managers throughout North America and overseas. A 20-year company
veteran, Scott was one of the first “third generation” family
members to participate in the Family Management Development
Program.
Scott
joined the company full-time in 1980 after earning a master’s
degree in business administration from Pennsylvania State University
and a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from St. Lawrence
University in New York. Having worked on various crews as a
college student, he gained field management expertise with assignments
in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas.
In 1987, Scott was elected vice president and most recently
has been instrumental in establishing Asplundh as a leader in
utility construction and underground utility locating.
George
Graham, Jr.,
Executive Vice President for the Asplundh Tree Expert Co., is
an 18-year company veteran and sponsor of nine field and subsidiary
operations.
George
had already gained tree and spray crew experience when he joined
the company full-time in 1982. He had also earned a bachelor’s
degree in business with a minor in agriculture from Pennsylvania
State University when he began working as a salesman for the
former Asplundh Manufacturing Division. In 1984 George transferred
into the field to gain management expertise with assignments
in Ohio, New York, North Carolina and the Pacific Northwest.
In 1990, he was elected vice president and has assumed ever
increasing responsibilities for Tree Co. and subsidiary operations
throughout the U.S.
