Climber Training in Connecticut

It was a snappy 5 degrees with a wind chill of 30 below when brave folks from the George Leszkowicz Region gathered on Saturday, January 22 for a climbing class. General Foreman Pete Wicklund, with the help of Foremen Jason Olden and Tom Steadward, led the program, while Permissions Person Roger Semeraro hosted the event at his mother’s house in Wolcott. A sheltered garage was used for equipment inspection, knot tying and test climbs. Later, everyone ventured outside to practice tree rescue (above), climbing, pruning and trimming. Two meals and a blazing fire to warm up at were much appreciated.

Wouldn’t You Like to Work Here?

Even though it was in the ‘heart of winter’ when this picture was taken, this ‘bundled up’ underground construction crew (well, they’re wearing long sleeves!) was out working along beautiful Pensacola Beach, Florida. Working under Supervisor Dave Harris, Foreman Darin Watson’s crew is shown here plowing in primary cable for Gulf Power Corp., which will serve future beach facilities. A pickup truck with a lighted sign board accompanied the crew to control traffic.

Or Maybe You’d Rather Work Here?

These folks definitely have long sleeves on! This dramatic shot, sent in by Supervisor Ed Maddalozzo of the Remo Maddalozzo Region in British Columbia, Canada, shows Lead Hand Mitch Oldham, Foreman Trevor Lysyk and Crew Member Mike Harrison removing a snow-loaded fir tree for BC Hydro. Working under the direction of BC Hydro Forester Ken Weaver, the crew was working near Little Fort, BC, using a 65’ lift to take down this big fir.
