Managers in the Home Office and Overseas
Bill
Fowler joined Asplundh's Equipment Department in
Willow Grove as General Manager of Equipment Operations
in October. He reports to Secretary-Treasurer Joe Dwyer.
Bill brings to Asplundh over 25 years of experience
in fleet management and maintenance. In 1972, with a
bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia
Tech, Bill joined the U.S. Army as an officer responsible
for a combat unit and vehicle maintenance operations.
Three years later, he transferred into the Army Reserves
and has worked the past 25 years for various major U.S.
transportation companies. Starting out as an operations
supervisor, Bill assumed increasingly higher management
roles before attaining his most recent position of president/chief
operating officer of a $65 million fleet maintenance
business. He earned an Executive MBA from Xavier University
in Cincinnati, Ohio and is a member of the National
Assoc. of Fleet Administrators, American Public Transit
Assoc., American Public Works Assoc. and Society of
Automotive Engineers.
Trevor
Gardiner, former supervisor in New Zealand, advanced
to manager of Asplundh Tree Expert (N.Z.) Ltd. in August
1999 under Vice President Carl Rogers. The overseas
subsidiary is sponsored by Vice President Matt Asplundh.
Before joining Asplundh in New Zealand in 1993, Trevor
had already gained 15 years of experience in arboriculture
by working as an apprentice tree surgeon in England
(where he was born), a project leader for a tree care
company in Austria and a team leader/arborist in New
Zealand. By 1994, he advanced to general foreman and
three years later, he was promoted to supervisor. Trevor's
management responsibilities include overseeing Asplundh's
line clearance and grounds maintenance operations for
various utilities and city councils throughout the North
and South Islands of New Zealand.
Rod
Nash joined Asplundh Tree Expert (Australia) Pty.
Ltd. in September as a manager under Vice President
Carl Rogers after the recent acquisition of his company
Highlift. Vice President Matt Asplundh sponsors our
Australian operations.
Born in Australia, Rod brings to Asplundh more than
23 years of experience in utility line maintenance there.
Starting out as an apprentice linesman, Rod worked seven
years for what used to be called the State Electricity
Commission of Victoria. In 1985, he started his own
tree line maintenance business, Highlift, which he sold
to Asplundh in September. Rod's management responsibilities
include overseeing line clearance operations for various
utilities in the states of Victoria and South Australia.
A member of the ISA, Rod earned an advanced certificate
of arboriculture through Burnley Horticultural College
and holds a certificate of technology in electrical
power.
New
Supervisors in the Field
Robbie
Adkins, former general foreman in West Virginia
under Manager Larry Kirk, was promoted in October to
supervisor. The Kirk Region is sponsored by Vice President
Brent Asplundh.
Robbie first came to work on an Asplundh tree crew in
1989 in his home state of West Virginia. In 1991, he
left the company and worked for almost six years as
a general foreman over several right-of-way clearing
crews. In January 1998, Robbie returned to Asplundh
as a general foreman. His supervisory responsibilities
include overseeing Asplundh tree crews working on the
properties of AEP, Virginia Dept. of Transportation,
Sprint and Verizon in Virginia. Robbie graduated from
the Asplundh
Supervisory Training Program in April of this year.
He is a certified First Aid/CPR Instructor and a commercial
pesticide applicator.
Patrick
Hislop, former general foreman/safety supervisor
in North Carolina, advanced to supervisor in September
under Vice President Tom Gunning in Arkansas. The Gunning
Region is sponsored by Vice President Matt Asplundh.
Pat joined Asplundh in 1993 as a foreman in Georgia
with eight years of prior experience with Farren's Tree
Surgeons. In 1995, he advanced to general foreman, overseeing
crews in South Carolina and bid jobs in Arkansas and
Louisiana. Over the past few years, Pat took on more
safety compliance duties for the Bob Atherton Region
in which he worked. Now, as a supervisor in Arkansas,
he is responsible for overseeing Asplundh crews working
on the properties of Entergy and various rural electric
cooperatives. Pat served six years in the U.S. Army
Reserves, is a certified First Aid/CPR Instructor and
an ISA Certified Arborist.
Juan
Mosqueda, former superintendent in the Tim Manners
Region in Texas, was promoted to supervisor under Manager
Eugene Wyatt in September. The Wyatt Region, which covers
portions of Louisiana and Texas, is sponsored by Vice
President Matt Asplundh.
Born in Mexico, Juan started out on an Asplundh tree
crew in Texas in 1987. He soon advanced to foreman and
in 1994, he was promoted to general foreman, overseeing
outsourcing crews in various states. As a new supervisor
in the Wyatt Region, Juan oversees Asplundh crews working
on the property of Entergy in eastern Texas. He is a
1999 graduate of the Asplundh Supervisory Training Program
and is a certified First Aid/CPR Instructor. Juan plans
on completing his ISA Certified Arborist exam in February
2002.
