The
Blue Ribbon Round Up at the Midwest Regional Rodeo
Employees from the Mel Riley Region
lassoed up some serious victories at the Western
Resources annual Midwest Regional Rodeo, held on
July 21 in Topeka Kansas. Asplundh Foreman Steve
Gleason placed first in the throw ball event and
his first-place aerial rescue performance is pictured
here. Crew Member David Lee II also took home some
awards for Asplundh. He was awarded first-prize
for the body thrust speed climb event and earned
second place for the overall competition.

Working
Hard in the Navy Yard Crews from
the Dave Stall Region were recruited this year to
work on a special project for the United States
Navy in Long Beach, CA. The crews, under the supervision
of General Foremen Pedro Vallejo and Martin Sanchez
removed over 40 ficus trees to keep the U.S. Navy
grounds looking ship shape.

Direct
From the Front Page A tree trimming
crew from the Ellis Anderson Region in Tennessee
captured the attention of the local press while
performing their daily duties. Back in March, Cleveland
(TN) Daily Banner photographer Donna Kaylor
captured Foreman Robert Watkins trimming branches
from the lift bucket, while Crew Members Larry McDonald
and Chris Boldin assisted the trimming job from
the ground. Special thanks to Donna Kaylor and Stephen
L. Crass, Editor and Publisher of the Cleveland
Daily Banner, for providing us with this spectacular
photo of our crew in action.

Boosting
Asplundh's Good Name The ISA Quebec
Chapter Jamboree, held on May 20 in Hull, Quebec,
allowed local climbers to compete for the honor
of representing the chapter at the International
Tree Climbers Championship in August. The Francois
Desjardin Region of Asplundh Canada Inc. was a proud
sponsor of this year's Quebec Chapter Jamboree,
getting the Asplundh name out to the attendees by
providing lift rides (left) and supporting the chapter's
champion in the international competition.
