From
the Storm Scrapbook: Emergency Tree and Line Crews in Action

Weather
affects Asplundh operations every day, but it's those 'stormy
times' that make our routine line clearance and construction
work really interesting! Many of our management regions work
with their customers to plan for those stormy times and our
employees are always ready for the excitement of helping to
restore electricity. Here are a few snapshots from recent storm
emergency events to remind us that we must always be prepared.

Unlike other
recent years, Asplundh's storm response in 2000 has often been
more localized and smaller because the severe weather has been
that way. Despite dire weather forecasts, several times we mobilized
forces only to send everyone home. However, this is no time
let our guard down since hurricane season extends through November.
Always looking for better ways to get the job done in an emergency,
Vice President Pat White in hurricane-prone Florida recently
renovated a used trailer to be a Mobile Field Office for his
region. Air-conditioned and wired for computers, fax, phone
and TV, the trailer can run off of a generator or RV hook-up.
It even has cabinets stocked with storm time sheets, forms,
contact numbers and medical supplies!
