Our
Street Lighting and Signalization History and Services
After
several years of inspecting and treating utility poles, our
parent company Asplundh decided in 1972 to begin to offer
street light and traffic signal maintenance services to utilities
and municipalities. In 1989, comprehensive maintenance services
began to include high-mast lights and highway signage lights,
so Departments of Transportation (DOTs) were added to the
division's customer base.
Among utilities, municipalities and DOTs, there has been a
growing interest in outsourcing their street light and traffic
signal maintenance functions because specialized contractors
are often better equipped and staffed for greater efficiency.
American Lighting's customers also benefit from lower prices
on lighting supplies and parts because we buy in such large
quantities. Information on other cost-saving measures and
contracting methods is provided free of charge. The range
of services provided by American Lighting and Signalization
include:
-
group
relamping and washing of street lights and/or traffic
signals
-
washing
and relamping of high-mast lighting and highway signs
-
painting
light poles
-
luminaire conversion to upgrade a system for energy and
cost savings
-
overhead
and underground cable repairs
-
proper
disposal of broken or replaced parts which contain hazardous
materials such as PCBs and heavy metals
Today, American Lighting and Signalization is the only full-service
street lighting and traffic signal contractor serving customers
nationwide.
