Utility Pole Technologies, Inc.

Since 1958 Asplundh has helped utilities avoid or postpone pole replacement costs by inspecting, treating and restoring wooden utility poles. Extending the life of these structures with preservatives, steel reinforcements and other techniques, saves the customer money. It can also improve safety and reliability.

In 1996, a new subsidiary, Utility Pole Technologies, Inc. (UPT), was set up and it has now taken the place of the former Asplundh Pole Maintenance Division. UPT can extend the service life of wooden utility poles by 20 years and similar results can be achieved for dock pilings and bridges. Services include:

• remedial treatment with preservatives and fungicides
• restoration with steel reinforcements and fiberglass wraps
• technical support and data processing
• attachment surveys
• installation of ground rods and guy wire guards
• ground wire repair and resistance measuring
• stenciling
• special customer requests for GPS locating and infrared scanning
